Some history about the Seth Thomas brand
|
| Seth Thomas was born in 1785 in a town called Wolcott, CT. He began his career in the clock business when he was 22 years old when he started working for Eli Terry in 1807. Seth Thomas ended up buying Eli's clock business in 1810 but then later sold it and relocated to Plymouth Hollow, CT to start a metal-movement clockmaking business. Soon after the first clock with the Seth Thomas brand was sold. Thomas died in 1859 and the town of Plymouth Hollow later changed its name to "Thomaston" in his honor. |
