Seth Thomas - Some interesting facts

| Seth Thomas started in the clock business working for Eli Terry in 1807 when he was 22 years old. In 1810 Seth Thomas purchased the business from Eli Terry only to sell it in 1817 so he could start a business that made metal-movement clocks in Plymouth Hollow, CT. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. Seth Thomas died in 1859 and 16 years later the town of Plymouth Hollow was renamed to Thomaston in his honor. |
