Seth Thomas - Some interesting facts

Seth Thomas began working in the clock business in 1807 at 22 years of age when he took a job working for clock maker Eli Terry. In 1810, he bought Terry's clock business though chose to sell his partnership in 1812 and moved to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut, where he set up a factory to make metal-movement clocks. The Seth Thomas brand has been a respected name since those first metal-movement clocks were sold in 1813. Thomas died in 1859 and the town of Plymouth Hollow later changed its name to "Thomaston" in his honor.
