Seth Thomas - Some interesting facts

| Seth Thomas was born in 1785 in a town called Wolcott, CT. He began his career in the clock business when he was 22 years old when he started working for Eli Terry in 1807. In 1810 Seth Thomas purchased the business from Eli Terry only to sell it in 1817 so he could start a business that made metal-movement clocks in Plymouth Hollow, CT. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. Thomas died in 1859 and the town of Plymouth Hollow later changed its name to "Thomaston" in his honor. |
