Seth Thomas Facts - A little bit of the history
|
| Seth Thomas began working in the clock business in 1807 at 22 years of age when he took a job working for clock maker Eli Terry. Thomas purchased the clock business from Eli Terry in 1810 but two years later he sold it so he could move to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut and open a new metal-movement clockmaking business. The Seth Thomas brand has been a respected name since those first metal-movement clocks were sold in 1813. Thomas died in 1859 and the town of Plymouth Hollow later changed its name to "Thomaston" in his honor. |
