Some history about the Seth Thomas brand
|
| Seth Thomas was born in Wolcott, Connecticut, in 1785. He started in the clock business in 1807, working for clockmaker Eli Terry. Seth Thomas ended up buying Eli's clock business in 1810 but then later sold it and relocated to Plymouth Hollow, CT to start a metal-movement clockmaking business. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. Seth Thomas died in 1859 and 16 years later the town of Plymouth Hollow was renamed to Thomaston in his honor. |
