Some history about the Seth Thomas brand
|
| Seth Thomas started in the clock business working for Eli Terry in 1807 when he was 22 years old. Thomas purchased the clock business from Eli Terry in 1810 but two years later he sold it so he could move to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut and open a new metal-movement clockmaking business. Soon after the first clock with the Seth Thomas brand was sold. The town of Plymouth Hollow changed its name in 1875 to Thomaston about 16 years after Seth Thomas' death. |
