Seth Thomas - Some interesting facts
|
| Seth Thomas began working in the clock business in 1807 at 22 years of age when he took a job working for clock maker Eli Terry. Seth Thomas ended up buying Eli's clock business in 1810 but then later sold it and relocated to Plymouth Hollow, CT to start a metal-movement clockmaking business. It is believed that the first Seth Thomas clocks were sold in 1813. The town of Plymouth Hollow changed its name in 1875 to Thomaston about 16 years after Seth Thomas' death. |
