Some history about the Seth Thomas brand
|
| Seth Thomas was born in 1785 in a town called Wolcott, CT. He began his career in the clock business when he was 22 years old when he started working for Eli Terry in 1807. In 1810, he bought Terry's clock business though chose to sell his partnership in 1812 and moved to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut, where he set up a factory to make metal-movement clocks. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. The town of Plymouth Hollow changed its name in 1875 to Thomaston about 16 years after Seth Thomas' death. |
