Seth Thomas - Some interesting facts
|
| Seth Thomas started in the clock business working for Eli Terry in 1807 when he was 22 years old. Thomas purchased the clock business from Eli Terry in 1810 but two years later he sold it so he could move to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut and open a new metal-movement clockmaking business. Soon after the first clock with the Seth Thomas brand was sold. Thomas died in 1859 and the town of Plymouth Hollow later changed its name to "Thomaston" in his honor. |
