Seth Thomas Facts - A little bit of the history
|
| Seth Thomas started in the clock business working for Eli Terry in 1807 when he was 22 years old. Thomas purchased the clock business from Eli Terry in 1810 but two years later he sold it so he could move to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut and open a new metal-movement clockmaking business. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. Seth Thomas died in 1859 and 16 years later the town of Plymouth Hollow was renamed to Thomaston in his honor. |
