Seth Thomas Facts - A little bit of the history

Seth Thomas began working in the clock business in 1807 at 22 years of age when he took a job working for clock maker Eli Terry. Thomas purchased the clock business from Eli Terry in 1810 but two years later he sold it so he could move to Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut and open a new metal-movement clockmaking business. In 1813 the first clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name began to emerge. After Thomas' death, Plymouth Hollow renamed itself "Thomaston" in his honor in 1875.
